Let’s talk
Economics
Want a 25% return* on your
investment? You and
your staff only need to schedule 3 endoscopy exams every month (1.5
hours of work). Better
than that you can have a dedicated morning each month to just scope
for ulcers and schedule an appointment every 30 minutes (exam can be
done in 10 minutes), grossing you $1000.00 monthly* or $12,000.00 a
year. Not bad for just
a half days work a month.
You will pay for your scope in less than 2
years.
Want to keep your capital? Then Lease the scope for as
little as $300 per month (That’s only 3 horses a
month.)*
*
Based on a fee of $125.00.
Nationwide survey revealed a range of $100.00 to $250.00 for
gastroscopic examination.
Doctor,
Do you have a 3 meter Endoscope in your
practice?
If you do and are pleased with it and use it
then throw this away.
If you do not have one or have one and not
pleased with it then here is some good news for
you.
Recent studies show that up to 90% of
performance horses have gastric ulcers. Many show no signs at
all. This means there
are hundreds of horses in your practice that suffer from this
disorder. Now you can
do something about it and make money at the same
time.
Here is a great profit center for your
practice. Scope horses
in your clinic or with this very portable equipment you can go to
the barn.
A
3 meter video endoscope at a great price that includes
training.
Want
to increase your practice revenue?
To quote from an article* in
the May 2003 Equine Forum of Veterinary
Economics;
Add Revenue Not
New Clients
“You’re already sitting
on a gold mine of existing clients. Your best bet: Prepare a
marketing initiative that leverages the value you offer your most
loyal clients.
Some key questions to
ask yourself: What additional services can you sell to your existing
clients? What unique
practice capability do you offer? You want to figure out what
it is that only you offer your clients.”
Equine Gastric Endoscopy is the
Answer
“Once you identify your
special offering, you need to convince your clients that they need
the service. How? Carefully communicate the
programs features and the health benefits this service will provide
your client’s horses.”
As many as 90% of performance horses have
ulcers!
Studies in all areas of
sport horses have been done.
Over 90% of horses on the racetrack were positive for
EGUS. Show horses
ranged from 60% to 70% incidence. In a recent pilot study I
just completed 50% of Endurance horses had some degree of
ulcers. You have
clients with horses that have ulcers and it is good medicine to warn
them of the possibility and get them checked and treated. Don’t refer them, check them
yourself and create practice revenue.
I have composed a sample
letter that may be used to contact your clients. A follow-up phone call will
increase the response.
Start out by having one morning a month to schedule
appointments. Eight Half hour appointments each month at $125 each
will generate $12,000 of annual revenue.
What makes this
“unique”? The best
estimate I can get is there are as few as 150 three meter endoscopes
in the US. If you have
one you have bragging rights and are showing your clients how
progressive you are and how much you care about their
horse.
Look over the enclosed
information about the SureVision™ VGT 3000 and the
several options you have to offer this service in your
practice.

Economics article by Stephen M. Kirshner

Dear
Client,
I want to take this opportunity to thank you for being my
client. I consider you
to be one of the loyal, dedicated clients that make this practice
successful and keep me wanting to practice Veterinary Medicine. Your horses are
fortunate to have you as their caretaker.
My goal in practice is to provide the very best care
possible. That includes
making sure that I have all the proper equipment and instruments
necessary to provide that care. I have just recently
acquired a very expensive endoscope that will allow me to check your
horse for gastric ulcers.
As you most likely have heard, Equine Gastric Ulcer Syndrome
is very common in almost all horses, especially performance horses
and working horses.
This disease can be subtle, showing almost no signs to so
sever that their life is threatened. The only way to confirm the
presence of the disease is to pass a very long endoscope into the
stomach and look for the ulcers. Scopes of the proper length
are not in every practice (may be only about 150 three meter scopes
in the US) but this practice now has one.
Having your horse checked for EGUS is good responsible
horsecare on your part and will give me the opportunity to help your
horse be free from this debilitating disease. If there are ulcers then we
can treat them. If no
ulcers then a prevention plan can be started.
The procedure is simple and safe. Fasting and mild sedation
are necessary and the whole thing can be over in 30 minutes. The fee for this procedure
is $125.00. Call the
office at 605-673-6005 for an
appointment.
Thank you for your loyalty and your dedication to your
horse.
